Functions and usage

How can I use the Bass Generator

The Bass Generator is a sampler instrument redefining heavy bass distortion. It consists of 6 different sound layers. It is designed to create bass sounds like basslines, bass pads, bass distortions, reversed basses and gated bass sounds.

The concept of the Bass Generator is based on 7 sound design steps.

  1. Set the main bassline source
  2. Set the style of distortion
  3. Shape the distortion style to taste
  4. Optionally add an extra bassline layer
  5. Optionally replace the sub sound with a clean sub sound
  6. Optionally play or load an additional bassline layer. Or export your generated distorted bass and continue with it in the sampler
  7. Optionally add effects.

Additionally you can play a kick drum to support your bass sound.
All layers can be enabled or disabled individually.

Can I add my own audio files?

Yes, via drag and drop sample import.

Adding your own sounds is possible on the Kick, Main Bass and Sampler layers.
In each of the panels there’s a drag & drop area where you can drop a sample Accepted audio formats are: wav, aif, aiff, ncw)
After dropping your sample, the waveform shows and the custom layer is automatically selected.

Will the Bass Distortion sound the same on each key?

This depends on the amount of distortion and EQ applied to the sound sources.
By general the instrument is used as a sound design tool. So it is advised to make a bass sound on one particular note and export this to an audio sample.
This can then be loaded easily into the sampler layer and then all notes will have the same distortion character.
However, in many cases it is possible to use the instrument directly into your track with different bass notes.

Does the instrument play in key and BPM tempo synced?

Yes, unless you manually override this.
The Kontakt engine has high quality timestretching and pitch shifting. This makes it perfect as a sampler as you can just play the notes you want.
Some of the sound sources have a predefined BPM. Those you can manually control by changing the start position and timestretching control.

I have Kontakt full edition, is the instrument open to edit?

Yes.
Our philosophy on this is simple. You are a producer and you bought the full edition of Kontakt most likely for a reason. To be able to edit the sampler instruments.
There’s no secret to how the instrument’s distortion recipe is cooked.
However, being able to edit the instrument doesn’t mean you can simply copy the concept and code.
This is all copyrighted. So editing the instrument is just for your personal use in.
The instrument already has over 120 controls ready to be used in the user interface. But if there’s a specific change you want to make, go ahead!
Please be aware when editing the instrument there’s a risk of the instrument not functioning as intended.
It is advised to save a separate instance of the NKI file first.
If there’s a feature you miss, please share by sending a message on the Lussive Audio store, so it can be considered for future updates.
